UP rises in the “Leaders” category of the ranking of state start-ups

LUCKNOW Uttar Pradesh is gradually catching up with the race for start-ups and has risen from the ‘Emerging Startup Ecosystems’ category to ‘Leaders’ in the latest ranking published by the union government’s Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). , state government officials said Monday.

The State Startup Ranking was launched by the Government of India in 2018.

According to the state government, Trade and Industry Union Minister Piyush Goyal released the report on the state’s 2021 startup rankings on Monday.

A total of 24 states and seven union territories participated in the exercise, which ranked them in five categories: top performers, top performers, leaders, future leaders, and emerging startup ecosystems.

Experts have pointed out that this is a step towards achieving the state government’s trillion dollar goal.

According to DPIIT, 6,379 startups are registered in Uttar Pradesh. About 1154 are recorded in Noida, 533 in Ghaziabad, 500 in Lucknow and 1219 in Bundelkhand and Purvanchal regions of the state.

Government start-up policy Yogi Adityanath provides additional 50% incentives to start-ups based in Purvanchal and Bundelkhand regions as well as those whose start-up founder/co-founder is a woman, divyangjan or from a transgender community.

“UP’s rise in the ‘Leaders’ category of the ranking shows how well the state government is pursuing its goal of making the state a preferred destination for investors and startups,” said Vinayak Nath, Chairman of the UP Startup Council.

In a bid to give startups a boost, the state government has also decided to set up 100 incubators across the state, with one in each district. Around 47 incubators have already been set up.

In the state capital, the largest incubator in the country will sprout in an area of ​​about 2.5 lakh square feet.

The UP Electronics Corporation has already identified land opposite the Amausi airport to set up the incubation center there. These incubators will help startups deploy their projects.
