Ministry of Spatial Planning calls for more efforts to prevent construction or demolition without permit

The Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urban Planning and Construction has sent a request to the capital and the province to strengthen inspections and prevent the demolition or construction without authorization of structures.

On March 3, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Land Use Planning, Urban Planning and Construction Chea Sophara sent the request to all provincial and capital governors. This is according to a letter received by local news.

In the letter, DPM Sophara confirmed that the ministry will not authorize any construction or dismantling on a site without the architectural and construction plans approved by the authorities. Construction or demolition with government approval is illegal and may affect quality, safety, security and public order regulations.

The ministry said, “The ministry is asking governors to monitor and take action to prevent the construction or demolition of buildings without permits and to impose penalties on those who violate building regulations.

The measures taken by the Ministry of Land Use are in line with Cambodian building law, including the Royal Government’s sub-decree on building permits.
