In a remarkable development, Shiv Sena rebel leader Eknath Shinde has been granted ‘Z’ category security ahead of his return to Mumbai. Accompanied by senior leader Deepak Kesarkar, Eknath Shinde left the Taj Convention hotel in Goa on Thursday morning and is expected to land in the city at 3 p.m.
A meeting is likely to take place between Shinde and former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis at the Taj President Hotel in Mumbai. The bridges are clear for the BJP to form the next state government with the support of the Shiv Sena rebel faction.
Fadnavis and Shinde will they claim the formation of the government today?
In an exclusive scoop, Republic TV has learned that Fadnavis and Shinde will meet Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari to demand the formation of the government. Additionally, on July 1, the two leaders will be sworn in as chief minister and deputy minister respectively, sources have revealed. Other ministers will be sworn in later.
Speaking to the media, as he made his way to Panaji airport, Shinde revealed, “The rest of the MPs (rebels) are still here in Goa but I am going to Mumbai today.”
Earlier in the day, Shinde announced that talks with the BJP over ministerial positions in the new government of Maharashtra will take place soon. Taking to Twitter, Chief Thane said he will remain focused on the overall development of Maharashtra by following the teachings of Balasaheb Thackeray and Anand Dighe.
The rebellion of Eknath Shinde and the 50 dissident MPs who supported him caused political turmoil within the ruling Shiv Sena and the ultimate collapse of Maha Vikas Aghadi’s government.
After eight days of struggle, Shiv Sena chairman Uddhav Thackeray resigned as Maharashtra’s chief minister on Wednesday night when the Supreme Court refused to suspend the ground test.
