Bad Work Culture at Land Revenue Deptt Should Be Ended: Mamata

Tackling the “bad work culture” of the state’s Land Revenue Department, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Wednesday that the division should be eliminated altogether.

Banerjee, while chairing an administrative review meeting here, called on officials to resolve all land disputes in the “Duare Sarkar” camps.

“The Land Revenue Department has become a place where no work is done these days… it should be done away with,” she said, without giving further details.

The Chief Minister also appointed a special officer for the “Gangasagar Mela” to make the annual fair more organized. “CID ADG Gyanwant Singh will assume this function,” she said.

Every year at Makar Sankranti, thousands of Hindus flock to Sagar Island, South 24 Parganas District, West Bengal, to take the holy bath and offer prayers at Kapil Muni Temple. At the meeting, Banerjee announced a series of projects for the South 24 Parganas district, including providing tap water connection to households.

Banerjee has also started over 85 such programs for Gangasagar, Budge Budge Canning, Basanti, Gosaba and Patharpratima in the district.
