INSPIRED BY BREATHTAKING EUROPEAN LANDSCAPES
The Suites celebrate the dramatic scenery that unfolds through the train’s floor-to-ceiling windows. With this as the starting point of inspiration, French artisans are influenced by four different designs: La Campagne (the countryside), Les Montagnes (the mountains), Les Lacs (the lakes) and La Forêt (the forest).
Paying homage to the exceptional journeys of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, the Suites inspired by The Forest echo the Black Forest, immersed in the mountainous region of southwestern Germany, a route taken during a trip from Prague in Paris. From wilderness to countryside, La Campagne-inspired suites are adorned with vivid velvet greens and intricate floral marquetry. Here, the most scenic journeys come to life through design, from the pastures and vineyards of northern Italy to the picturesque views of southern France and along the French Riviera. The Austrian Arlberg massif is visible on the classic train route to Venice and the design of the Mountains reflects the impressive mountain peaks still present. From land to water, The Lakes pattern reflects the beauty of many spectacular lakes crossed along the way, from Zurgersee in Switzerland to Lake Como in Italy.
Each suite will immerse guests in diverse European landscapes through gorgeous colors, patterns and textures. Plush fabrics and furniture will channel famous Art Deco designers, such as Majorelle, Dufrene, Leleu, Rousseau, Prou and Lalique. The interiors are a celebration of European landscapes and the abundance of surrounding nature; the arable plains with their expanses of vineyards, the ancient forests of Central Europe, the steep elevation of mountain ranges and smooth glacial lakes.
The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express travels across Europe – Czech Republic (Prague), France (Paris and Cannes), Italy (Florence, Venice, Rome and Verona) Austria (Vienna and Innsbruck), Hungary (Budapest), Romania (Bucharest) ), Switzerland (Geneva), Belgium (Brussels) and the Netherlands (Amsterdam) – from March to November, as well as the iconic route from Paris to Istanbul once a year.
