The Emmy Drama category is dividing the internet as adult hits compete with teen favorites. When the Emmy nominations for 2022 were announced, young fans were shocked by the omissions of their favorite shows and performers. The nominations for the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards were revealed on Tuesday and, as usual, fans are thrilled.
Fans praised all the shows and cast whose names were read by Melissa Fumero and JB Smoove during the live announcement, but what about those who didn’t? It’s the only list that’s certain to be even more controversial than the nominees themselves. While they didn’t want to take away from others who earned well-deserved nominations, fans felt it would be irresponsible if they didn’t take a moment to acknowledge the individuals they believe have been overlooked in the category of young favourites.
Tuesday morning, the nominees for the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards, which recognize the best in television, were revealed. “Only Murders In The Building”, “Ted Lasso”, “Hacks”, “Pam & Tommy” and “Succession” performed well, although many important names were omitted. Selena Gomez was not nominated for her lead performance in “Only Murders In The Building” as Mable Mora. However, she gained recognition as a producer when the Hulu series landed the Outstanding Comedy Series category. Nonetheless, her co-stars Martin Short and Steve Martin were honored for their performances.
Even though Gomez is only the second Latina to be nominated for Best Comedy Series as a producer, many believe she was passed over for her role as Mable Mora on the show, even though she was one of the leads. poster of the series alongside Short and Martin. Highlighting the fact, one fan wrote, “steve and martin were emmy nominated as best comedy lead actors but not selena FOR THE SAME SHOW??? #onlymurders.”

With the announcement of Season 2, fans are hoping Gomez will land a nomination next year: “Selena is already eating OMITB Season 2… that Emmy will be hers next year.”
All it took was one Kate Bush song and one letter reading for the world to recognize Sadie Sink, who plays Max Mayfield in the fourth season of Netflix’s “Stranger Things.” Her standout performance on the hit fantasy program this season caught the national air. The 20-year-old phenom had the most significant journey of any character in the most recent season, and fans were clamoring for her to receive her first Emmy nod this year. However, they were deeply upset when she was not recognized for her outstanding performance at the Emmys.
While there’s always potential for split votes among the cast, there’s no doubting Sink’s buzz on social media and across the court this season. Fans on social media are outraged by the Emmy snub for the young actor. They wonder why the Emmys are hesitant to nominate young actors. One fan tweeted: “My main question is WHY are the Emmys so reluctant to nominate young actors? So many young Yellowjackets characters delivered fantastic performances and Sadie Sink was crazy in Stranger Things too. They will usually go with 2 -3 standout is frustrating.”
